SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY WRITES A LETTER TO THE PMO TO BUILD RAM MANDIR IN AYODHYA
Subramanian Swamy is a name to reckon with when it comes to a no holds barred approach towards various pressing matters of political relevance. The BJP MP recently made headlines for the Herald case against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
This time though the BJP leader has grabbed headlines for a completely different reason. The Harvard educated economist and lawyer has written to the PMO urging the Prime Minister to build the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Pertaining to his letter he quoted that “n a letter to PM I have informed that that his legal advice that Govt needs SC permission is erroneous. Narasimha Rao Govt had nationalised the land and under Article 300A the SC cannot question only compensation. Hence there is no bar for Govt to start building right away.”
Subramanian Swami has made it explicitly clear through his letter that the PV Narsimha Rao’s government had nationalized the entire land, both disputed and undisputed and hence the Government did not need the Supreme Court’s approval for allocating the land in question for building the temple. The Modi Government had appealed to the Supreme Court for its approval, so that the 67 acres of disputed land could be returned to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas which was a trust formed for the construction of the temple. The appeal, according to Subramanian Swamy has been made “erroneously” and doesn’t hold much ground in terms of legalities.
Swami has also made his desire apparent that the Ram Setu should be declared as a national Heritage monument. The response to this letter remains to be seen.
