PM Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on November 12th to participate in the 'Dev Deepawali' celebrations.
He will also grace the auspicious occasion of the 550th Prakashotsav of Guru Nanak Dev ji at the Guru Bagh Gurudwara. It is believed that Guru Nanak Dev had visited the Guru Bagh Gurudwara during his lifetime and his footprints are preserved till this date at the holy site.
The 'Prakashotsav' will be celebrated on an elaborate scale and Sikhs from all parts of the country are expected to attend the event.
During the Prime Minister's interaction with party workers on October 24th , a number of local leaders had extended the invitation to him for the Dev Deepawali event.
In his recent 'Mann ki Baat' programme during Diwali, PM Modi had spoken about the Guru Bagh Gurudwara.
The head Granthi of the Gurudwara, Sardar Sukhwinder Singh, has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and said that it would be an honour to welcome him on this pious occasion.
The National Air India plane has commomerated this occasion by painting "Ik Onkar" on one of its top model aircraft to observe the 550th birthday of Guru Nanak. This event is also seen as a big push for the long standing Kartarpur corridor being thrown open for pilgrims.
